Ingredients
  

For the Chai

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 bags black tea or 2 tablespoons loose leaf
  • 1-2 sticks cinnamon
  • 4-6 pods cardamom
  • 2-3 cloves cloves
  • 1 inch fresh ginger sliced or 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk or dairy-free alternative such as almond, oat, or coconut milk
  • to taste sweetener honey, sugar, or maple syrup

Preparation

  • In a small pot, bring 2 cups of water to a gentle boil.
  • Once boiling, drop in the cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, cloves, and ginger. Allow these spices to brew for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the black tea bags or loose leaves into the pot and steep for another 3-5 minutes.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and your choice of milk. Heat gently until warm but not boiling.
  • Add your preferred sweetener and stir to taste.
  • Remove from heat, strain the chai into your mug, and enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to adjust spice quantities to your preference. Consider adding nutmeg or pumpkin spice for a festive twist. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
