Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 9 cups rice cereal squares (or chex-style cereal) The crunchy base.
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips Melts into silky chocolate coating.
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter Adds that nostalgic, nutty richness; use almond butter for a twist.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter Helps the chocolate and peanut butter meld smoothly.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Lifts the flavors.
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar For that signature snowy coating.
  • 1/2 cup red and pink heart-shaped sprinkles For the Valentine’s Day magic.
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips Optional, melted for drizzling.
  • optional freeze-dried strawberries crushed For a tart pop.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and pour the cereal into a large mixing bowl.
  • In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Stir constantly until smooth and glossy.
  • Remove the pan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Immediately pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal and gently fold with a spatula until every piece is evenly coated.
  • Transfer half the coated cereal into a large resealable plastic bag. Add half the powdered sugar, seal, and shake until each piece wears a snowy coat. Pour onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Repeat with the remaining coated cereal and powdered sugar.
  • Scatter red and pink heart sprinkles on top while the mixture is slightly tacky so they stick. If using a white chocolate drizzle or crushed freeze-dried strawberries, add them now for extra flair.
  • Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then serve in a big bowl, tuck into gift bags, or store for later snacking.

Notes

Make gluten-free by choosing certified gluten-free cereal. Use dark chocolate and reduce powdered sugar for a healthier option. For a romantic twist, stir in freeze-dried raspberries.
