Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound Beef Sirloin Tender and flavorful; substitute with tenderloin or chicken breast.
  • 1-2 pieces Bell Peppers Any variety works; red, green, or yellow.
  • 1 piece Red Onion Sweet and tangy; shallots can also be used.
  • 1/2 cup Teriyaki Sauce Use store-bought or homemade.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Aromatic and flavorful.
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger, grated Adds a hint of spice and warmth.
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil Adds a nutty flavor.
  • units Skewers (wooden or metal) Soak wooden ones in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a bowl, mix the teriyaki sauce, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil. Cut the beef into 1-inch cubes and add it to the marinade. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes.
  • While the beef is marinating, chop the bell peppers and onion into chunks, similar in size to the beef.

Grilling

  • Alternate threading beef, peppers, and onions onto the skewers.
  • Heat your grill to medium-high. If using a grill pan indoors, allow it to heat well too.
  • Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, basting with more teriyaki sauce as they cook.
  • Once the beef is cooked to your liking, remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes. Serve with extra teriyaki sauce on the side.

Notes

Marinate the beef a day in advance. Leftover skewers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days or frozen for later use.
