Ingredients
  

Meat Sauce

  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean beef for a healthier option or swap it with ground turkey for a lighter taste.
  • 1 pound Italian sausage Adds a wonderful spice and depth; feel free to use any favorite sausage.
  • 3 cups marinara sauce A homemade sauce elevates the dish; opt for a brand with no added sugars if using store-bought.

Lasagna Layers

  • 12 no-boil lasagna noodles no-boil lasagna noodles These save time and energy!
  • 15 ounces ricotta cheese Try mixing in some herbs for an extra kick.
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Feel free to add different cheese types like provolone for variety.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese To sprinkle on top for a rich finish.
  • 1 large egg Helps with the creaminess of the ricotta.
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning A delightful blend that infuses the lasagna with herby goodness.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  • Pour in the marinara sauce, stir well, and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Assembly

  • In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce.
  • Place 3 no-boil noodles over the sauce, then spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a generous layer of mozzarella, and another layer of meat sauce.
  • Repeat the layers and finish with the remaining noodles, sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese.

Baking

  • Cover the lasagna with foil (to prevent sticking) and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is bubbly and golden.
  • Once out of the oven, let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

This recipe can be made ahead of time and refrigerates and freezes beautifully. For a veggie load-up, add layers of sautéed spinach, zucchini, or mushrooms. Consider using plant-based alternatives for a vegetarian delight.
