Ingredients

Frosting Base

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter, softened to room temperature Brings richness and creaminess.
  • 4 cups Powdered Sugar For that sweet, melt-in-your-mouth texture.
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract Adds depth and warmth; consider using almond extract for a lovely twist.
  • 2-4 tablespoons Milk (or Heavy Cream) For perfect consistency; use dairy alternatives like almond milk for a vegan option.
  • a pinch Salt Balances sweetness and enhances flavors.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, add the softened unsalted butter. Beat it with a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed until it’s light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Pour in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Beat until combined, scraping down the sides of the bowl as necessary.
  • Slowly add milk, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the frosting reaches your desired consistency.
  • Once it’s ready, take a moment to enjoy the beautiful texture and aroma before spreading it on your cooled sugar cookies.

Notes

For the fluffiest frosting, ensure your butter is at room temperature. You can make the frosting a day ahead and refrigerate it; just let it come to room temperature before using. Keep your mixer at lower speeds when incorporating powdered sugar to avoid a sweet cloud filling your kitchen.
