Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy and light in color—around 3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt, then gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Spread the dough evenly in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
