Ingredients

For the Truffles

  • 1 package Kataifi pastry Shredded phyllo dough; can substitute with phyllo sheets.
  • 1 cup Chopped pistachios Finely chopped for filling and decorating.
  • 1 can Sweetened condensed milk Provides creaminess and sweetness.
  • 4 tablespoons Butter Adds richness; can use coconut oil for a dairy-free version.
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar For sweetness in the filling.
  • 2 tablespoons Honey or syrup For drizzling on top.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the chopped pistachios, sweetened condensed milk, powdered sugar, and melted butter until well combined.
  • Take a handful of kataifi pastry and separate it into strands. Shape it into a nest in the palm of your hand.
  • Place a spoonful of the pistachio mixture into the center of the kataifi nest, then wrap it around the filling, forming a truffle shape.
  • Bake the truffles in the oven for about 10 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
  • While they cool, drizzle honey or syrup over each truffle and sprinkle with additional chopped pistachios.

Notes

Don’t overfill the truffles; they hold better when not too bulky. Ensure all kataifi strands are evenly coated with butter for a golden finish. Use decorative parchment or a fancy serving dish to impress your guests.
