Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of butter or oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add thinly sliced beef in batches. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until just browned. Transfer to a plate.
  • In the same skillet, add the onion and bell pepper. Sauté until softened and beginning to caramelize, about 6 to 8 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in Worcestershire sauce.
  • Return the beef to the skillet, pour in beef broth, and stir to combine. Let simmer for a couple of minutes.
  • In a bowl, combine cubed bread with mayonnaise or Greek yogurt and half of the shredded cheese. Fold in the beef mixture.
  • Transfer the mixture to your prepared baking dish, sprinkle the remaining cheese on top, and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Leftovers keep beautifully in an airtight container for up to 4 days. It also freezes well for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
