Ingredients

Chicken

  • 4 pieces bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs Can swap for boneless, skinless if preferred

Sauce

  • 1 cup favorite barbecue sauce Homemade or store-bought for convenience

Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Adds richness; coconut oil works as a substitute
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder Fresh garlic amplifies the flavor
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Adds depth; feel free to omit if sensitive
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika For an extra smoky flavor
  • 1 teaspoon salt To taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper To taste

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  • In a small bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Massage this spice blend all over the chicken thighs.
  • Drizzle the olive oil over the chicken.

Cooking

  • Place the seasoned chicken on a baking tray lined with foil or parchment paper, skin-side up. Bake for 25 minutes.
  • Pull the chicken out, and smother it generously with barbecue sauce. Return it to the oven for an additional 10–15 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  • For that caramelized finish, broil for 2–3 minutes, watching to avoid burning.

Notes

Allow the chicken to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving for juicier meat. Use a meat thermometer for precise cooking. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
