  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar Balances the saltiness of soy sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger Minced.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced.
  • 2 stalks Green onions Sliced, for garnish.
  • 2 cups Rice Steamed or substitute with quinoa.

Cooking Steps

  • Cook the rice according to package directions; it can be done simultaneously as you prepare the beef.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  • Once the beef is browned, stir in minced garlic and ginger.
  • Mix in soy sauce and brown sugar, letting it simmer for a few minutes until everything is well combined.
  • Remove from heat, and sprinkle with sliced green onions.
  • Spoon the beef mixture over a bed of rice and serve.

Notes

Feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers or carrots, or make it spicy with red pepper flakes or sriracha. You can also swap ground beef for ground turkey or chicken.
