Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 4 medium medium apples (any sweet variety works, such as Fuji or Honeycrisp) Feel free to substitute or mix with Granny Smith for a tangy contrast.
  • 1/4 cup honey (preferably local) You can swap for maple syrup for a unique flavor twist.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon This spice is essential for nostalgia; crank it up during the holidays!
  • 2 tablespoons butter (unsalted) Adds richness; coconut oil is a suitable dairy-free alternative.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Balances sweetness and keeps the apples fresh-looking; you can use apple cider vinegar if needed.
  • a pinch salt Enhances all those beautiful flavors.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Wash the apples thoroughly. Peel them if preferred, then slice them into thin wedges, about 1/4 inch thick.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add the butter and let it melt and bubble gently.
  • Once the butter is melted, add the sliced apples, tossing gently to coat them with butter.
  • Drizzle honey and lemon juice over the apples, allowing the mixture to thicken into a syrupy glaze.
  • Add cinnamon and a pinch of salt, stirring until apples are well coated.
  • Cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the apples become tender and golden brown.
  • Remove from heat and serve immediately.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently with a splash of water to restore the syrupy consistency.
