  • 4 tablespoons Butter softened, for spreading on the outside
  • 2 tablespoons Mayonnaise optional, adds tang and extra browning
  • 6 ounces Cheddar cheese thinly sliced for sharp flavor
  • 4 ounces Mozzarella cheese shredded for stretchy texture
  • 8-10 slices Thin-sliced ham or smoked turkey optional, for savory balance
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard optional, brightens the flavor

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange the Hawaiian rolls in a single row.
  • Carefully slice the rolls in half horizontally.
  • Spread softened butter on the top side of each roll and a thin smear of mayonnaise on the bottom side.
  • On the bottom halves, layer cheddar, mozzarella, and optional ham or turkey. If using, dot the mustard sparingly and press the top halves back on.

Cooking

  • Cover loosely with foil and bake for 10 minutes to melt the cheese.
  • Remove the foil and bake another 2-5 minutes until the tops are crisp and lightly browned.
  • Brush the tops with a little melted butter and sprinkle with chopped chives or parsley.
  • Slice between rolls and serve warm.

Notes

For a pan-grilled version, assemble sandwiches and press in a hot skillet with butter until golden on both sides and cheese is melty. Store cooled sliders in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 8-10 minutes.
