Cooking Steps

  • In a large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat.
  • Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Toss in the diced onion and sauté until soft and translucent, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add minced garlic and cook for another minute, ensuring not to burn it.
  • Add the broccoli florets to the pan, stir well, and cook for about 5 minutes or until bright in color and tender-crisp.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch. Pour it over the beef and broccoli mixture, stirring to coat everything evenly.
  • Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Taste and adjust with salt and pepper as necessary.
  • Serve hot over a bed of rice or noodles.

Notes

Add some heat with crushed red pepper flakes or sriracha. For add-ins, consider water chestnuts or bell peppers.
