Preparation

  • Rinse the rice under cold water in a fine-mesh strainer until the water runs clear.
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  • Add the rinsed rice to the saucepan, stirring well to coat it with the garlicky butter. Toast the rice for about 2-3 minutes until it becomes slightly translucent.
  • Carefully pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and stir to combine.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste, then increase the heat to bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes until all the liquid is absorbed.
  • Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff gently with a fork.
  • If desired, garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat with a splash of broth to restore moisture. For extra garlic flavor, feel free to add additional cloves.
