Pickle Chips Ingredients

  • 1 jar Pickles, dill pickle slices (or half-sours) You can use homemade pickles for a special touch!
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour This serves as the base for your coating.
  • 1/2 cup Cornmeal For extra crunch and texture.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Season well to enhance flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper Adds a nice kick.
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika Gives color and subtle smokiness.
  • 2 large Eggs Whisked to help the coating adhere.
  • 2 cups Vegetable Oil For frying; canola or peanut oil works well.

Dipping Sauce

  • 1 cup Ranch dressing Classic pairing, feel free to experiment with favorite sauces.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by draining your pickle slices and patting them dry with paper towels.
  • In one bowl, mix together the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and paprika. In another bowl, whisk the eggs.

Frying

  • Take each pickle slice, dip it into the egg mixture, allowing excess egg to drip off, then coat it in the flour mixture.
  • In a heavy-bottomed pot or a deep fryer, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, carefully add a few pickle slices at a time. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  • Remove fried pickles and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to soak up excess oil. Repeat until all slices are fried.

Serving

  • Serve immediately with your favorite dip.

Notes

For a lighter version, try baking at 400°F for 15-20 minutes or air-frying. For a spicy twist, add cayenne pepper to the flour mixture. Mix in grated Parmesan for a cheesy upgrade.
