  • ½ cup Breadcrumbs Substitute with oats for a gluten-free option.
  • 1 Egg For a vegan alternative, use a flax egg.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Fresh garlic adds robust flavor.
  • 1 tbsp Ginger, minced Provides the teriyaki essence.
  • ¼ cup Soy Sauce Consider low-sodium soy sauce for a healthier twist.
  • 1 tbsp Sugar Brown sugar enhances sweetness. Can be replaced with honey or maple syrup.

Garnish

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, minced garlic, minced ginger, and a drizzle of soy sauce.
  • Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Cooking

  • Bake the meatballs in your preheated oven for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • While the meatballs are baking, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, brown sugar, and a splash of water in a saucepan. Heat over medium until the sugar dissolves, then simmer until it thickens slightly.
  • Once the meatballs are done, toss them in the teriyaki sauce until nicely coated.

Serving

  • Sprinkle with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

Add sesame oil or red pepper flakes for an extra kick. Use gluten-free breadcrumbs and tamari for a gluten-free version. Serve with pineapple chunks for a Hawaiian twist.
