  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil Can substitute with avocado oil or butter for variation.
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced Fresh garlic is essential; garlic powder can be used in a pinch.
  • to taste Salt Consider using sea salt or kosher salt.
  • to taste Black pepper Red pepper flakes can add extra heat.
  • optional Lemon juice Brightens the dish if added at the end.

Preparation

  • Rinse the broccoli and cut it into bite-sized florets.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, pour in the olive oil. Once shimmering, you’re ready for the next step.

Cooking

  • Add the minced garlic to the pan and sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  • Toss in the broccoli florets and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Sauté for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until bright green and tender-crisp.
  • If using, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the top before serving.
  • Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy while it’s still warm.

Notes

Consider adding cooked chicken or chickpeas for a heartier meal, or sprinkle with nutritional yeast or Parmesan cheese for a cheesy twist. Experiment with soy sauce or balsamic vinegar for added flavor.
