Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 12 count Hawaiian sweet rolls Soft and slightly sweet; can substitute with dinner rolls.
  • 12 slices Thinly sliced deli ham Honey or smoked ham recommended; use turkey for a leaner option.
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese or your favorite melting cheese Gruyere or provolone are good alternatives.
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter, melted To create a delicious crust.
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard Adds tang and cuts the sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon Honey Pairs well with the rolls and ham for balance.
  • 1 teaspoon Poppy seeds Optional garnish for a nostalgic finish.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic powder For warmth and savory depth.
  • 1/4 cup Fresh parsley, chopped Optional, for garnish.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  • Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the top and bottom intact.
  • Place the bottom half of the rolls in the dish and layer the ham slices evenly.
  • Top the ham with cheese slices for a gooey center.
  • Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese and press down gently.
  • In a small bowl, whisk melted butter, Dijon mustard, honey, garlic powder, and poppy seeds.
  • Brush the mixture generously over the roll tops, letting some seep into the seams.
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake an additional 2–5 minutes until the tops are golden and the cheese has melted.
  • Let the sliders rest for 2–3 minutes before slicing between each roll.

Notes

For variations, try adding sriracha-mayo for spice, or grilled pineapple for a vegetarian option. Serve warm with dill pickles or coleslaw.
