  • 1 medium onion, chopped Adds a sweet and savory base.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced For that aromatic kick!
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced They bring an earthy depth that’s just divine.
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour Helps thicken the sauce for a creamy finish.
  • 1 cup beef broth The perfect liquid to build your sauce.

  • to taste Salt and pepper Essential for bringing out the flavors.
  • optional parsley for garnish A sprinkle of green brings brightness to your plate.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain the excess fat and set the beef aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent and fragrant—around 3-4 minutes.
  • Toss in the sliced mushrooms and cook until they're tender and browned, which should take about 5 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the flour over the veggies, stirring to combine. Gradually pour in the beef broth, mixing well until the sauce is smooth and begins to thicken.
  • Reduce the heat and add the sour cream and Worcestershire sauce, stirring until the sauce is creamy and well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Add the cooked ground beef back into the skillet, stirring to coat it in the luscious sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, just to heat everything through.

Notes

For a kick of flavor: Consider adding a dash of paprika or a sprinkle of thyme. Healthier Option: Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for added protein and lower fat. Vegetable Boost: Toss in some spinach or peas for extra nutrition. Over the Top: Try serving over mashed potatoes or mixing it into cooked egg noodles.
