Preparation

  • In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt a tablespoon of butter. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt.
  • Cook the onions slowly, stirring occasionally, until they’re soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  • In a bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Once the onions are caramelized, allow them to cool slightly before folding them into the cream mixture until well combined.
  • Serve the dip chilled or at room temperature with your choice of dippers.

Notes

Consider stirring in some grated cheese for an extra cheesy version or adding chopped chives for a fresh touch. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
