Main ingredients

  • 6 large large eggs Fresh eggs yield the best flavor.
  • 1 cup milk Whole milk gives a rich texture. Can use low-fat or almond milk for a lighter version.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Swiss) Choose your favorite; cheese adds delightful gooeyness.
  • 1 cup diced ham Use leftover ham or a store-bought deli variety.
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion Adds depth; can substitute with scallions or omit.
  • Salt and pepper To taste, essential for seasoning.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.
  • Add the chopped onion to the bowl, followed by the diced ham.
  • Stir in the shredded cheese, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased pie dish or baking pan.

Cooking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

For variations, consider adding spinach and feta, replacing ham with sautéed vegetables, or infusing with fresh herbs. Store in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days in the refrigerator, and freeze for up to 2 months.
