  • 9 pieces Lasagna noodles Uncooked and no-boil noodles preferred.
  • 1 lb Ground beef or turkey Substitution: Use lentils for a vegetarian option.
  • 2 cups Marinara sauce Homemade sauce can improve the flavor.
  • 15 oz Ricotta cheese Substitution: Cottage cheese for a lower fat option.
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese For melting and texture.
  • 0.5 cups Parmesan cheese For the top sprinkle.
  • 1 cup Fresh basil or spinach Dried herbs can be used in a pinch.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey until fully cooked.
  2. In your crock pot, spread a thin layer of marinara sauce at the bottom.
  3. Layer uncooked lasagna noodles, half of the meat mixture, a layer of ricotta, a sprinkle of mozzarella, and a bit of parmesan.
Layering
  1. Repeat the layering process with another layer of sauce, noodles, meat, ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan until you run out of ingredients.
  2. Top with a final layer of sauce and mozzarella.
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, until the cheese is bubbly and the noodles are cooked through.
Serving
  1. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and garnish with fresh basil.

Notes

Creative swaps can include using Italian sausage or turkey sausage instead of ground meat. Add veggies like spinach or zucchini for a healthier option. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to three months.
