Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings (fresh or frozen, but thawed)
  • 1/4 cup honey (local honey adds a lovely touch)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (substitute with tamari for a gluten-free option)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced (or more if you’re a garlic lover!)
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (for that crispy exterior)
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels.
  • In a large bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, vinegar, minced garlic, black pepper, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.
  • Add the chicken wings to the bowl and toss them in the marinade until they are thoroughly coated. Allow them to marinate for at least 15 minutes (or even better, in the fridge for an hour).
  • Spread the wings in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle cornstarch evenly over the wings.

Cooking

  • Bake for 30-40 minutes, turning once halfway through. They are ready when they turn golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and drizzle the remaining marinade over the wings.
  • Garnish with chopped green onions and serve.

Notes

Spicy Option: Add a teaspoon of chili flakes or sriracha to the marinade. For an air fryer version, cook at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes.
