Lasagna Ingredients

  • 12 oz Lasagna Noodles Use traditional or no-boil noodles.
  • 1 lb Ground Beef Substitute with turkey or plant-based option if desired.
  • 2 cups Marinara Sauce Store-bought or homemade.
  • 15 oz Ricotta Cheese Cottage cheese can be used as a substitute.
  • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese Do not skimp on this ingredient!
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese Adds a sharp, nutty flavor.
  • 1 large Egg Can be omitted for a vegan version.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the marinara sauce and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and half of the Parmesan. Mix until smooth.
  • In a greased baking dish, layer your ingredients: start with sauce, then noodles, followed by the ricotta mixture, and sprinkle with mozzarella. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with sauce and a generous layer of mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Let the lasagna sit for about 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Feel free to adapt ingredients. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days, or freeze portions for later.
