  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it’s foamy.

  • Sprinkle in the flour, stirring constantly for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Gradually whisk in the beef or chicken broth, ensuring there aren’t any lumps.
  • Allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes. Taste and adjust with salt and pepper as desired.
  • If using, sprinkle in fresh herbs at the end for an aromatic flare.

Notes

Store leftover gravy in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. For longer storage, freeze in an ice cube tray and transfer cubes to a freezer-safe bag. Reheat in a saucepan over low heat, adding a splash of broth or water if needed.
