Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat, then stir in the tomato sauce, basil, and oregano. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  • In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until smooth.

Assembly

  • In a large baking dish, spread a layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place lasagna noodles on top, followed by half of the ricotta mixture, a layer of mozzarella, and more meat sauce.
  • Repeat the process until you’ve used all your ingredients, finishing with a layer of meat sauce topped with mozzarella and parmesan.

Baking

  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.

Serving

  • Let the lasagna sit for 10-15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For a healthier twist, incorporate sautéed spinach, zucchini, or mushrooms into your meat sauce. Assemble lasagna a day in advance, cover it tightly, and refrigerate.
