Main Ingredients

  • 2 pieces ripe avocados Choose avocados with a slight give when gently squeezed.
  • 1 cup fresh herbs (cilantro, parsley, or basil) Fresh is best! Use a blend for a more complex flavor.
  • 1-2 cloves garlic Adjust based on your preference for a little kick; roasted garlic can add sweetness.
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice Brightens the flavors and helps keep the avocados vibrant.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Essential for balancing the flavors.
  • 1 tbsp Greek yogurt or sour cream (optional) For added creaminess, particularly if you want a thinner sauce.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather your ingredients: Place your avocados, fresh herbs, garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a food processor or blender.
  • Add the herbs: Toss in the fresh herbs to the processor.
  • Pulse it together: Blend on high until smooth, scraping down the sides as needed.
  • Taste and adjust: Sample the sauce and add more lemon, salt, or garlic based on your preference.
  • Serve and enjoy: Transfer the sauce to a bowl and drizzle it over your favorite meals.

Notes

To store your avocado sauce, keep it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. You can also freeze it in ice cube trays for later use. Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for spice or blend in a dollop of Greek yogurt for extra creaminess.
