  • 3 tbsp Unsalted butter Melted for cooking
  • 1 c Tomato purée For the sauce base
  • 1 c Heavy or coconut cream Depending on dietary preference
  • 1 tbsp Garam masala Spice mix
  • 1 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Coriander
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 in Ginger Minced
  • 1 c Chopped onions For cooking
  • 1/4 c Nutritional yeast For a cheesy flavor

For the Flatbread

  • 4 pieces Flatbread Store-bought or homemade

Preparation

  • Begin by marinating the chicken with yogurt, garam masala, cumin, and salt for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking

  • In a large pan, melt the butter over medium heat, adding chopped onions until they turn golden brown.
  • Stir in minced garlic and ginger, allowing the aroma to fill your kitchen.
  • Add the tomato purée and cook for a few minutes, simmering to thicken the sauce.
  • Incorporate the marinated chicken into the sauce, cooking until it is tender and fully cooked.
  • Pour in the cream, stir well, and let it simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Serve the butter chicken over warm flatbread, garnishing with fresh cilantro if desired.

Notes

Marinating the chicken longer enhances the flavor. You can adjust the spice levels to your preference.
